People. Purpose. Impact.

Hire overseas
talent that stays.

We hire people for businesses building teams outside their home market, and we stay responsible for them after they start.

The entrance to a quiet, daylit office: pale plaster walls, a light oak floor, a low bench and an olive tree beside a glass door onto a planted courtyard.

Why it matters

A signature is not the finish line

Replacing someone costs far more than hiring them well in the first place.

Most companies can find candidates. What goes wrong comes later: excellent in interview, gone in five months, the same role filled three times.

So the placement is where our job starts. We are judged on whether people are still doing good work long after.

  • One partner, from first brief to long after onboarding.
  • People recruited into a team, not dropped into a seat.
  • Local knowledge, from people who work in the market.
Three views of a working day: a video call with a colleague on screen, three colleagues comparing notes over a laptop in an open-plan office, and a woman working at a desk by a window.

Our standard

Together, or not at all.

umma — community

Impatum means impact and أمة (umma): a community bound by shared purpose, not geography. The impact is only possible because the community is real.

We do not hand over a shortlist and disappear, and we do not place anyone we would not want on our own team.

How we work

Four stages, and you always know which one you are in

  1. We learn the role

Not the job title — the actual work, who they answer to, and what has gone wrong before.

  2. We find and check candidates

Our network first; here the best candidates come through relationships, not adverts. Everyone is assessed against the standard we agreed.

  3. You decide

You meet the shortlist and make the call. We tell you what we think, reservations included.

  4. We stay involved

They join a team with a shared standard. We keep in contact, and act early when something is not working.

Three views of focused work: a woman reading at a laptop, a woman in a headscarf considering a list of candidates on a monitor, and a woman reviewing the same list on a tablet.

The ring closes when we stay.

Fit

Who we are a good fit for

We would rather tell you now than three weeks in.

A good fit

  • You are building a team in a market you do not operate in.
  • You care whether someone stays, not only whether they start.
  • You want one partner accountable end to end.
  • You are hiring people, not filling a gap.

Not a good fit

  • You want a CV database and nothing more.
  • You need freelance or short gig cover.
  • The role must be filled from your own country.
  • The cheapest hire matters above all else.

Common questions

Before you get in touch

The things people usually want settled first.

We have never hired outside our own market. Where do we start?

With the role, not the logistics. Tell us what the person will actually do and what has to go right.

How is this different from using a local agency?

Most agencies are paid at the point of hire, so that is where their involvement ends. Ours carries past it.

What happens if a hire does not work out?

We stay close to the people we place, so we usually know first and raise it while it can still be fixed. If it cannot be, we agree the next step with you.

Can you help with a single role, or do we need an ongoing arrangement?

A single role is fine. The four services work alone or together.

Do you handle contracts, payroll or work permits?

No. Employment rules differ by country and change over time; where a hire raises those questions you need a qualified professional, and we will say so.

Are you a good fit for short-term or freelance cover?

No. We recruit people into teams for the longer term. For gig cover, another kind of agency will serve you better.

Tell us what you are hiring for

Send us the role and the market. We will tell you honestly whether we can do it well.

About

About Impatum

We recruit and oversee talent for companies building teams outside their home market. The name explains how we work.

The name

Impact and أمة

From impact — the force that leaves a mark. Not noise, but consequence.

From umma (أمة), the Arabic for a community united by shared purpose, not geography; shaped into -tum for a firm close.

Together: a community that makes an impact.

The order matters. The impact is only possible because the community behind it is real.

Said out loud

Im‑PAH‑tum

Three syllables, chosen to sound natural in Arabic, English and Kurdish — the languages the work is done in.

The mark

A circle that has not closed

The circle stands for unity, community and momentum. The diamond at its centre is the impact itself.

It is drawn as two arcs rather than a closed ring, because a community is something people join, not something already finished.

The team

Five colleagues in their office, four gathered behind a desk and one seated in front of it.

The market we work in

Hiring here is not the same as hiring anywhere

  • Baghdad
  • Basra
  • Mosul
  • Erbil

Where talent concentrates. It thins out quickly beyond them.

Geography

A role that draws a deep field in one of those cities may draw nobody two hours away. Sometimes the search must widen, or the role must move.

Experience

Graduate supply is strong; specialist experience is thinner, especially in newer technical fields. Closing the gap between a good CV and someone who can do the job on Monday is most of our work.

Senior hiring

It runs on relationships. The strongest candidates are rarely reading adverts, which is why we search our own network first.

Formalities

Contracts must be written, in Arabic or bilingual, and the Kurdistan Region has its own labour law. We are not lawyers — but we will tell you when a hire needs one.

Three views of the region we recruit in: a modern business district at street level, a shared workspace where people work at long tables above the city, and a wide view across the rooftops.

Principles

Four pillars

The things we will be measured against.

Impact

Everything we do must leave a mark.

Community

The أمة is the source of all impact. Bound together, we are stronger than apart.

Loyalty

To the mission and to each other. A commitment, not a contract.

Standard

A high bar for the work, the team and ourselves — every day.

How we work

What you can hold us to

Impactful

Here to change the outcome, not to add a step to your process.

United

One team accountable from first brief to long after someone starts.

Loyal

Reliable to the people we place and to the companies we place them with. Both, or neither.

Intentional

If we cannot explain why we are putting someone forward, we do not.

High standard

The same bar for our own process as for the people we recruit. Slow rather than wrong.

Proud

We answer for our work in public, including when it has not gone our way.

Work with us

If this is how you want your team built, we should talk.

Services

Our Services

Four parts of one job: the right people in your team, and kept there. They work together or on their own.

Three views of assessment: two colleagues considering a candidate profile with the candidate opposite them, a woman working through a shortlist in an open-plan office, and two colleagues talking something over with a tablet between them.

Recruitment

We find the people, check them against the role, and hand you a shortlist you can act on.

Our own network first — here the strongest candidates are reached through relationships, not job adverts.

What you get

  • A shortlist that meets the written standard, not everyone available.
  • Our honest read on each one, reservations included.
  • One point of contact who stays with the brief.

Best for

Companies hiring into a market where they have no team on the ground yet.

Team culture

We build a team your hires actually belong to, instead of dropping them into an empty seat.

A new hire in a distant market is easy to lose: far from head office, often alone in their job. We build the identity that holds them.

What you get

  • A team with a defined standard, not individuals on one payroll.
  • New hires who know what is expected from the first week.
  • A culture that outlasts our involvement in any single hire.

Best for

Teams that keep losing good people in the first year.

Retention

We keep good people in the role by making sure the role is worth keeping.

We stay in contact with the people we place and with you, so problems surface as concerns, not resignations.

What you get

  • Continued contact, not a handover and silence.
  • Early warning instead of a sudden vacancy.
  • Honest reporting, including when the problem is on our side.

Best for

Companies that have already paid for the same role twice.

Attracting talent

We help you become somewhere ambitious people want to work, so hiring gets easier over time.

A team known for real impact pulls people in by itself — and every good hire makes the next one easier.

What you get

  • A clearer reason for strong candidates to choose you.
  • Less outbound searching for every role.
  • A reputation that outlasts any one hire.

Best for

Companies planning to keep hiring in the same market.

Three views of a workplace ready for someone to start: an open office with desks and a seating area, a clear desk with a laptop and a notebook, and an empty meeting room.

How we work

What working with us actually looks like

  1. Brief

The role, the market, and what has to go right. If we cannot do it well, we say so.

  2. Search

We work our network and assess against the agreed standard. You hear from us throughout, not only at the end.

  3. Shortlist

You meet a shortlist with our read on each person. You decide.

  4. Onboarding

The hire joins a team with a shared standard, not a market where nobody knows them.

  5. After

We keep in contact with them and with you, and raise problems while they are still a conversation.

Scope

What we do not do

Knowing where a service stops is as useful as knowing where it starts.

  • Not a CV database. We do not sell access to a list of candidates.
  • No short-term freelance or gig cover.
  • No legal, tax or immigration advice — we will tell you when you need it.
  • Nobody we would not want on our own team, however hard the role is to fill.

Start with the role

Tell us the role and the market. If it is not a good fit, we will say so straight away.

Before you write

What to put in your message

Four things let us give you a straight answer instead of a discovery call.

  1. The role. What the person will actually do, not the job title.
  2. The market. Where you are hiring, and whether you have anyone on the ground.
  3. What has to go right. The part of the job that decides whether the hire succeeded.
  4. What went wrong before, if you have hired for this role already. Usually the most useful line.

Fit and process questions are answered in the common questions on the home page.

A woman at her desk pausing with a pen in her hand, looking away while she thinks.

After you write

What happens next

  1. We read it properly

Your message goes to the people who would do the work, not to a shared inbox.

  2. We give you a straight answer

If it is a good fit we say so and ask what we need. If not, we tell you plainly.

  3. We talk about the role

The actual work: what the person will do, what has to go right, and what went wrong before.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

This policy explains how Impatum handles personal information in connection with this website. We have kept it short because this website does very little with your data.

Information we collect through this website

This website has no contact form, no newsletter sign-up, no account system and no login. We do not ask you to submit personal information anywhere on it, and we do not collect it.

Like almost all websites, the server that hosts this site may automatically record standard technical information when a page is requested — such as the IP address making the request, the page requested, the time, and basic browser information. These server logs are generated by our hosting provider for security and reliability purposes. We do not use them to build a profile of you and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors from them.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not set cookies. It does not run analytics, advertising, retargeting or social tracking scripts, and it does not embed third-party content that tracks you across sites.

If we introduce analytics in future, we will update this policy first, and where consent is legally required in your market we will ask for it before any such technology loads.

If you contact us

The contact route offered on this site is our LinkedIn page. If you message us there, LinkedIn handles that message on its own platform under its own privacy policy and terms, which we do not control. We would encourage you to read them.

When you contact us about a role or an engagement, we will receive whatever information you choose to send us — typically your name, your employer, and details of the role you are hiring for. We use that information only to respond to you and to carry out any work you go on to engage us for. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

Candidate information

Where we recruit on behalf of a client, we handle candidate information for the purpose of that recruitment only: assessing suitability for the role, presenting candidates to the client concerned, and supporting the placement afterwards. We do not sell candidate information or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. No candidate information is collected through this website.

Text messages and phone numbers

This website does not collect phone numbers, and we do not operate an SMS or text-message marketing programme. There is no SMS opt-in on this site.

If you provide a phone number directly to us during a business conversation, we will use it to contact you about that matter only. Any consent you give to be contacted, and any contact information or opt-in data you provide, will never be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Should we introduce a messaging programme in future, consent will be collected separately and explicitly, message frequency will be disclosed at the point of consent, message and data rates may apply, and standard STOP and HELP instructions will be provided; consent would not be a condition of any purchase or service.

Service providers

We use a third-party hosting provider to serve this website. That provider processes the technical server information described above on our behalf. We do not share personal information with any other third party for the operation of this website.

Data retention

We keep business correspondence and recruitment records only for as long as we need them for the purpose they were provided for, or for as long as we are required to keep them for legal, accounting or regulatory reasons. When information is no longer needed, we delete it.

Security

This website is served over an encrypted connection. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over the personal information we hold about you — including the right to ask what we hold, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to receive a copy of it. To exercise any of these, contact us and tell us what you would like us to do. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.

Children

This website is intended for business use. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

International transfers

We work with companies and candidates in different countries, so information you send us may be accessed from a country other than your own. Where that happens we take appropriate steps to protect it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the website after a change means you accept the updated policy.
